(Richmond, VA) – The results of the 2017 state elections represent the most dramatic change in Virginia’s political climate in the last 100 years. The continuation of Democratic leadership in all three statewide offices is assured by the victories of Ralph Northam, Justin Fairfax, and Mark Herring. While some contests will enter a recount, the Republican majority in the House of Delegates – 66-34 prior to the election – has been nearly eliminated.
